I just wanted to say thank you for posting this – did as Chris suggested and found a toilet where one of the sinks had an icon with a hand holding a cup (see pic below).
Saved me quite a few euros during a long stop over!
This thread was a great help for me today. If you find yourself in Terminal 1 gate section E, and in the annex with gates E31-E44 or so, I found one with the aforementioned symbol in the bathroom by gate E43.
From Chris
Terminal 3,
I asked a cleaner where to refill (they always know): in the toilets, the wash basins have three symbols above them โ soap, water & dryer. SOME of the water symbols include a picture of a cup. Iโll post a photo if I can work out how to.
Thanks Chris
April 2021: the cup is still there ๐ mind the difference, as marked in the pic!

Hi, was traveling through Fiumicino a couple of days ago and checked with one of the staff after reading the posts above.
I was shown that not all the water may be drinkable, but there were definitely two different outputs with the cup logo where the water is definitely drinkable. Had a cupful and no problems.
Would recommend this website to anybody.
(I had posted an earlier comment as I was unsure of the cup and hands logo – but was proven wrong when I visited the airport).
Thank you for your comments, we have tried to contact the airport direct to clarify, but not received any information from them, maybe someone could get a photo of the cup logo.

Hi, thanks for this useful repository of information.
I’m pretty sure that the water in the loos is drinkable, but the symbol referred to above is not a hand holding a cup, but advice on the fact that the water is activated by a sensor (so it will start working when you go near it, just like the soap dispenser and hot air blower, which also have the hand symbol).
